Born on the Isle of Arran in Scotland, Calum has had an extensive career in heritage and museum operations. He has held a number of positions with the Nova Scotia Museum, the family of 28 provincial Museums working in collections and information management and later in senior management for the past 25 years. He joined the Tripartite Forum Culture and Heritage Working Committee in 2006 and has been Provincial Co-Chair for the past 9 years.
In the fall of 2014, he took on the role of project coordinator for the creation of Nova Scotia’s first comprehensive Culture Action Plan: Creativity and Community, released in February of 2017. He is currently Acting Director of the Nova Scotia Museum.
He is an avid sailor, kayaker, woodworker and micro-scale farmer and lives with his wife on a small island on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia.
